Moderno Porcelain Works Creates Endless Design Possibilities with Porcelain

Moderno Porcelain Works constantly pushes the boundaries of what design with porcelain can become. Specializing in the fabrication and installation of large-format porcelain (5’ x 10’) slabs, their experienced craftsmen raise the quality standards in the surfacing industry. As the only company in North America using advanced fabrication machines and a proprietary installation process, they are 100% dedicated to porcelain. From the material selection and precise laser measurement to fabrication and installation, Moderno is a turnkey solution for all things porcelain.

What started as a decorative pottery item for dynasties dating back thousands of centuries has now transformed into one of the most versatile materials in the market for residential and commercial use. Quickly gaining popularity across the surfacing industry, porcelain is perfect for kitchen countertops and backsplashes, flooring, shower walls, decorative wall cladding, and all-weather outdoor spaces.

Porcelain delivers the luxurious appearance of natural stone, but without the inconsistencies and high maintenance. Porcelain’s strength yet light lightweight capabilities and the fact that it is now produced into 5’x10’ slabs allow for a wide variety of applications. Gone are the days of grout lines and unsightly seams with a 5’x10’ slab. Similarly, vein-matching, book-matching, and a large continuation of patterns are easily created without the excessive material waste found when working with marble and other natural stones.

Porcelain will not only change design trends but also people’s way of living. In a world living the aftereffects of a pandemic, people are more conscious of surface hygiene. Porcelain is non-porous and can be cleaned with stringent disinfectants giving users peace of mind that their surfaces are safe and sanitary. Additionally, porcelain is recognized by the United States Green Building Council as an environmentally friendly product. Unlike other man-made products, porcelain is sustainable and made with natural materials like clay, sand, and feldspar (three of the most abundant materials on Earth). No waste or byproducts are created.

Moderno can take a marble-like dream home and turn it into a reality with less cost, less material, and no harm to the earth. Their in-house craftsmen create endless possibilities from shower walls with fewer grout lines, matching bathroom vanities, and slip-resistant flooring to kitchen scratch-resistant countertops, heat-resistant fireplace surrounds, decorative tv niches, and outdoor kitchens. The possibilities are truly endless.

Moderno Porcelain Works currently has state-of-the-art showrooms and fabrication centers in Sunrise, FL, Orlando, FL, and Tampa, FL coming soon. Additional locations include Texas, California, Arizona, and Minnesota with Colorado and Georgia coming soon.

Design Highlights from Kips Bay Decorator Show House

“The living room sits at the center of the home, directly off the foyer, so we wanted it to set the tone for the design,” says designer Ali Frye. “The room was designed specifically for entertaining, so we painted the ceiling white and installed a show-stopping light fixture by Visual Comfort to draw the eye upward.”

A view of the dining room and kitchen reveals the bold blue cabinetry that the homeowners insisted on at their first meeting with the design team. “It’s a high-gloss lacquer finish, which really makes the blue color pop,” says McCauley. “Since the kitchen is visible from the living room, we knew it would become a focal point.” The centerpiece of the dining area is a light pendant by Gabriel Scott.
