The Wellness Factor: Keys to Health

Design goes beyond aesthetics to soothe the mind, body, and soul. Case in point: The Well Bay Harbor Islands and The Well Coconut Grove.

An intentional approach to architecture and interiors that puts physical, mental, and emotional health first, wellness design is luxury’s great new frontier. The numbers certainly don’t lie: The global wellness economy is massive, reaching a record $6.8 trillion in 2024 and projected to hit nearly $9.8 trillion by 2029. The reasons behind this are as diverse as design itself: a post-pandemic consumer focus on health-conscious living spaces… artificial intelligence advancements that make once-impossible technology the norm… a human desire for more connection in our lives. Whatever the cause is, one thing is certain: Wellness design is here, and it’s here to stay.

Wellness Real Estate Plants its Flag in Miami

According to a recent report from the Global Wellness Institute, wellness real estate is projected to reach $1.1 trillion in construction, development, and residential sales by 2029. Figures like those certainly explain the new partnership between world-renowned wellness brand The Well and local development firm Terra to bring two health-centered residential communities to Miami-Dade.

Featuring architecture by Arquitectonica and interiors by Meyer Davis, The Well Bay Harbor Islands (set to open by spring 2026) and The Well Coconut Grove (set to debut in 2028) will both house residences priced from $1.5 million, but their main appeal lies in their clean-living amenities. We’re talking thousands of square feet dedicated to features like a caldarium (a less intense version of a sauna), a halotherapy room where steam and salt are used to cleanse the lungs and skin, a hyperbaric chamber for oxygen treatments, hot and cold plunges, crystal cave relaxation lounges, and every fitness class and workout contraption you can think of, plus resources for healthy eating, physical therapy, IV vitamin care, acupuncture, and even pickleball.
