There are very few things designer Kelly Wearstler hasn’t covered in her extensive collaboration portfolio. There have been textiles for Lee Jofa, carpeting for The Rug Company, paint for Farrow & Ball, tiles for Ann Sacks, lighting for Visual Comfort, and multiple properties for Proper Hotels. Her latest partnership, however, ups the ante on imagination. Together with British atelier Edelweiss, Wearstler recently launched the Timbra, a piano unlike any we’ve seen before.
Handcrafted from natural layers of birchwood veneer, the Timbra highlights the organic essence of its construction material with wave-like contours that give it a sculptural form. Featuring all the latest tech innovations, the piano comes in six different finishes.
“I wanted to create something that felt like a sculpture first and piano second, without ever compromising the sound,” says Wearstler. “When people encounter it, I want them to feel something unexpected, to see a work of art before realizing it’s also a beautifully crafted instrument.”
