Goodbye, Naples Beach Hotel. Hello, Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort.
A $1 billion redevelopment has replaced the iconic 1946 property with 220 guest rooms, a 30,000-square-foot spa, and a soon-to-come 18-hole Tom Fazio golf course. With architecture by Hart Howerton and interiors by Champalimaud Design, the look of the new resort is inspired by the nature and colors of the Gulf Coast. Instead of a single monolithic structure, Howerton’s design consists of a series of spaces linking the land to the sea. Guests arrive via a porte cochere and are welcomed into a light-filled lobby with framed views of the Gulf. The high-ceiling accommodations evoke coastal cottages with wood plank paneling, rattan shades, carved teak consoles, and sea glass chandeliers. Artwork curated by Tappan Collective enhances the overall ambiance with a mix of figurative paintings, black-and-white photography, and colorful landscapes.
“Much of our design is rooted in the nostalgia of Southwest Florida,” says Champalimaud CEO Ed Bakos. “While the architectural elements have a noble quality, the atmosphere is low-key and bucolic. We expressed Naples’ natural charm through proportion, color palette, and evocative details.”
