West Palm Beach Coastal Regency

Styled with a youthful edge, this home brims with bright colors, energetic patterns and loads of pizzazz

1955
Fun from the get-go, an aqua-hued bike carrying a basket full of sunflowers sets the scene outside this Coastal-style white stucco home featuring blue Bahama shutters and SIW’s wood louvered door with a striking tin awning.

when your client is adventurous, fun, savvy and a close friend, you possess a unique set of keys to unlock a brave new world of design. “While I put the puzzle pieces together, my client very much knew what she wanted and liked,” interior designer Kara Hebert says. “She was totally uninhibited with any color or pattern I showed her, so putting her home together was a fun process… we had a blast.”
A fusion between Coastal and Regency style, this 10,000-square-foot home, in the exclusive community of Admirals Cove in Jupiter, Fla.,

contains everything imaginable and more for this family with young children and pets to enjoy year-round.
“It’s a little bit of luxury with all the bells and whistles, six bedrooms, a library, den, exercise room, media room and game room,” Hebert says. “It even has a dog wash.”
The color scheme runs the gamut with lots of turquoise, bits of navy, bright coral, jungle green and hot pink hues. “We used the punchy, juicy colors my client loves, set against a backdrop of white walls and a shell-beige limestone flooring for relief,” Hebert says.
In the living room, the client’s very favorite fabric, “Enter the Dragons” linen by Jim Thompson in fuchsia, marigold, sea-foam and green, sets the tone and provides inspiration. Rich and rambunctiously beautiful, it creates spot-on impact on the accent pillows and a Lee Industries ottoman. However, it is the CR Laine wood-spindle chairs, covered in a sea-foam geometric print, that take a more prominent role. “They have such beautiful sculptural backs and we wanted to show them off,” Hebert says.

The fun continues in the kitchen, where fresh white cabinetry sparkles with a shimmering mosaic backsplash. For a lace-like touch, the glass fronts mimic the style of the counter stools splashed with an aqua hue that follows through in the pantry. “The deep aqua hue gives a pop of color that plays peek-a-boo with a mostly white kitchen,” Hebert says.
Lighthearted and airy, the nearby breakfast nook is furnished with forgiving pieces perfect for little children. Easily wiped clean, the hardy finish on the wood table from Ethan Allen and the special coating on the animal-print chair pads make the space virtually spill-proof. Outside, the patio, pool and expansive yard beyond serve as a family-friendly entertainment area oriented to take advantage of South Florida’s near-perfect climate. All this adds up to a home the owners appreciate, a great fit for their lifestyle. “It was so much fun. The wife and I joke that she and her husband are ready to sell it and build another,” Hebert says. “And they will, too, mark my words!”
