When a couple of Midwestern multi-homeowners envisioned a modern Miami-inspired vibe for their Naples getaway, the team at Renée Gaddis Interiors instantly honed in on their request. Founder and owner Renée Gaddis had already won her clients’ trust with their previous project—a coastal traditional–style condo just down the street. But with their growing family, the couple, who reside part-time in Minnesota, needed more square footage and a space better suited to their active lifestyle.
With its direct beach access and proximity to the shops and restaurants of Fifth Avenue, The Regent, a luxury high-rise on Gulf Shore Boulevard, proved the perfect solution. There, a complete gut renovation of the couple’s chosen 8,600-square-foot unit gave them a chance to start fresh with the design and layout.
“Seeing the transformation was one of the most satisfying aspects of this project,” says Gaddis. “Reconfiguring the entire kitchen and removing a wall in the dining room to replace it with a slider were among the most impactful changes.”
The residence’s blue-centric color palette was inspired by the clients’ desire to create a serene, coastal feel with a modern edge. Throughout the main living spaces, Gaddis layered white and gray upholstery for an airy, timeless base, while restrained touches of teal and chrome accents added a refined sense of contrast. “We started with a cool foundation of porcelain Calacatta tile and light white oak flooring that set the tone with soft, neutral elegance,” says the designer. “As you transition into the breakfast nook and family room, the palette evolves slightly, introducing deeper teals and richer blues that offer warmth and depth against the neutral gray sectional. That all works together to create a more relaxed atmosphere.”
Gaddis thoughtfully carried the palette throughout the home for cohesion and calm, allowing each room to flow naturally into the next. Subtle neutrals and layered textures anchor this continuity, yet it is the playful elements that truly bring the space to life. Sculptural accessories, unexpected color bursts, and bold abstract artworks infuse energy and personality without disrupting the aesthetic harmony. “The long hallways became a showplace for curated art and collected pieces—some of which were sourced with the expertise of Chicago-based art advisor Daniel Kinkade,” adds Gaddis. “We also embraced curvature throughout the design—from rounded furnishings to sinuous sculptural accents—to temper the linear architecture and add elements of movement and warmth to the more structured spaces.”
Equally approached with intention, the lighting serves both form and function while elevating the overall design. A fully integrated system offers the flexibility to create layered scenes throughout the main living spaces, adapting intuitively to different times of day and uses. LED tape lighting softly defines ceiling details, creating a contemporary edge without overwhelming the architecture.
In the primary bedroom and den, stained wood cladding introduces a sense of coziness and craftsmanship, with integrated lighting that quietly highlights the rich finish. Throughout the home, carefully curated sculptural sconces and statement fixtures facilitate moments of visual interest, striking a balance between practicality and artistry.
Entertainment-ready, the color-drenched family room and ocean-view terrace have emerged as favorite hangout spots when the whole family comes together. At the same time, the central dining room has proven a conversation-inspiring space for hosting guests.
“Having worked together before, we innately gravitated to designs that leverage style with practical living while respecting the owners’ vision,” notes Gaddis. “It’s always fun to design for repeat clients because the trust and relationship make for a smooth collaboration.”
