At Home with Designer Judith Liegeois

Designer Judith Liegeois gives beloved furnishings and artworks new purpose at her Naples residence in Lake Park

When renovations began on the 2,000-square-foot Naples home she currently occupies, designer Judith Liegeois was armed with crucial information about what her new house would need—knowledge she gained after living in a much larger residence years before. Before plans were even drafted, she knew what rooms had to connect to ensure a proper flow, how much storage space would be needed in each of those rooms, what colors and materials served her lifestyle best, which furnishings would go where, what new pieces to purchase, and other important facts.

“I wanted compound living,” says the veteran designer. “For me, that meant rooms with purpose, a true outdoor living area, comfy seating, mirrors, dining lamps, and fabrics made of cotton, linen, mohair, and bouclé.”

To that end, the home’s palette, textures, style, and art story were dictated by existing furnishings from the previous home that Liegeois (a furniture showroom owner) had expertly outfitted with items she had no intention of letting go. “It’s a mixture of colors and materials that I’ve lived with and love,” she says. “They are special pieces that prioritize comfort.”

They also reveal their owner’s talent for layering. “Everything is familiar yet with a new purpose,” says Liegeois. “It all worked as it was meant to.”
