The pursuit of living well is easily within grasp in Sunny Isles Beach. The town’s incomparable coastal scenery and world-class amenities deliver a profound statement—and perhaps a new perspective—of modern-day luxury living. Perched atop the city’s Château Beach Residences high-rise, an exquisite penthouse takes its inhabitants to new heights, reaching beyond the ultimate expression of high standards in both aesthetics and quality of life.
Spanning the entire 32nd and 33rd floors, the sprawling 9,550-square-foot dwelling towers above the seafront of Sunny Isles Beach, boasting 360-degree views of the Atlantic Ocean and the not-too-distant Miami skyline.
Informed by her intuitive skills in design, art, and fashion, Brazilian designer Graciela Dayan was the top choice for executing the sky residence’s interiors with her signature blend of elegance, functionality, and timelessness. Founder of Graciela Dayan Arquitetura e Interiores in São Paulo, the designer acquired her client thanks to her stellar reputation in South Florida and Brazil—and a spot-on presentation. “The owner knew my work very well, and when I presented my specifications and choices, he approved absolutely everything,” says Dayan. “The whole dynamic and execution process was extremely smooth.”
To unify the vast square footage in the residence, Dayan procured original pieces, including a mesmerizing statement rug for the grand living space. She also designed custom-crafted panels and shelves, implementing rich detailing in elevated materials such as lacquer, ebonized wood, metal, mirror, and leather. Every closet was custom fitted, ensuring both beauty and functionality.
“The style of this project is contemporary and elegant,” says Dayan. “Most of the furniture and decorative elements are rounded, following the shape of the building’s architecture. The predominant tones chosen were grays and blues inspired by the color palette of the ocean.”
In contrast, an alluring entrance hall ensconced in glossy ebony walls and a mirrored ceiling creates a suspenseful prelude into the oceanside brilliance awaiting inside. Crossing the threshold into the main foyer, an infinite choice of views enchants even the most jaded. A luminous blue Lalique vase glows from within amid the tranquil palette, echoing the sea’s meditative hues. Taming the massive proportions, a sleek glass and metal staircase and a perforated metal panel generate striking architectural accents and space dividers without disrupting the views.
Defined by a double-height ceiling with soaring windows, the living room, lounge bar, and dining room form a dramatically integrated space. Anchoring the sofa and seating pieces, a custom three-dimensional rug grounds the room with a bold graphic pattern. Chic cocktail and side tables hold conversation-worthy collectibles, including a Baccarat crystal chess set, sinuous sculptural figures, and other distinguished objets d’art. “All the furniture is placed so everyone can interact with each other,” says Dayan. “The dining room connects visually with an elegant glass table surrounded by ultra-comfortable tweed-upholstered chairs and an exquisite crystal chandelier. And the separate lounge bar across the room makes an intimate environment where you can enjoy a good drink with friends.”
The spacious multifunctional kitchen, equipped with Gaggenau appliances, showcases glossy custom cabinetry, multiple seating options, and an intimate wine cellar nook with armchairs and a tasting table. A bonus dining area off the kitchen highlights city skyline views and miles of beachfront. Outside, a resort-sized entertainment space signals serious leisure. This open-air oasis offers guests the ultimate two-deck playground with an expansive pool, generous lounge seating, and a barbecue station.
The entire upper level of the penthouse—accessible by a private elevator or the central staircase—is reserved for a lavish primary suite comprising a second media room, a massage room, and a fitness area outfitted with Technogym equipment.
“The owner of this luxurious penthouse gave me the creative freedom to design a bespoke, sophisticated, and impactful setting,” says Dayan. “Incredibly rich in details, this project is complete from top to bottom with furniture and materials from renowned luxury brands. We were stunned and delighted with the final result.”
