The layered and sophisticated aesthetic that has made Charlotte Dunagan one of the most in-demand interior designers in South Florida can be seen in all its glory at her family home in Miami Beach, a 4,600-square-foot residence by Choeff Levy Fischman Architecture & Design completed in 2015.
“The idea here was to create a tropical modern retreat,” says Dunagan. “I wanted it to reflect the same thoughtfulness and elegance we bring to our client projects with design that’s timeless, elevated, and deeply personal.”
For Dunagan that meant setting a foundation with warm, earthy neutrals to anchor an elegant setting marked by porcelain flooring, textured fabrics, warm oak, natural stone, metal accents, and smoky mirrors. All these elements work together with clean-lined furnishings that are both elegant and comfortable. “Each piece was selected not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for its durability and tactile experience,” says Dunagan. Translation: Lush bouclé one minute and buttery suede the next.
“My overall goal was to strike a perfect balance between luxury and comfort,” says Dunagan. “We did that with layers of storytelling that make the home uniquely ours.”
