When global tennis star Rafael Nadal first saw the MY Aria by Sunreef Yachts in Gdansk, Poland, he began thinking about the precious downtime he could enjoy aboard his very own 80 Sunreef Power catamaran. The superstar athlete loves to cruise around the Mediterranean Sea near his home in Mallorca, Spain. “As someone from an island, the sea is a natural part of my life, and it is not a secret that I love the sea,” says Nadal, who holds 85 tennis titles, including 19 Grand Slam wins and a record 35 ATP Masters 1000 titles. “Every time I am at home in Mallorca, I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy being on a boat,” the champion says.
Sporting spacious interiors, this 79-plus-foot catamaran is designed to meet the desires of the owner who asked for a “Miami high-rise” style. The results: an aft cockpit and flybridge equipped with home entertainment systems, a waterfall-inspired whirlpool with a functional surrounding bar, a custom-designed pantry in the galley, and a tender garage with a modern, state-of-the-art Jet Ski launch system.
Champagne, taupe and black hues color the contemporary interior stylings in perfect complement to the catamaran’s stainless steel portlights, high bulwarks, teak sole decks and low-key ambient lighting. “The owner of the MY Aria is very discerning with a precise decor idea,” interior designer Marta Kaszuba says.
Both the social and private areas are spacious and well-appointed for luxurious living in contemporary design. “Each piece of freestanding designer furniture on this yacht is custom created,” Kaszuba says. “Everything bespoke comes from Ottiu, Cantori Twist and Coco & Wolf Sammarco.”
Aboard his own 80 Sunreef Power catamaran, Nadal will be able to cruise in privacy or entertain 10 guests with a crew of four. The water evokes all of the pleasures that bring joy to this hardworking and fit athlete — well aware that he, too, needs relaxation to maintain a balanced life. And cruising the seas will offer just that.
