The living room’s ceiling wood beams are reclaimed from old Ohio barns. The soaring, 72-inch-wide fireplace is paired with a hand-carved coral mantle. Furniture here includes lounge chairs by Palecek, draperies by Quadrille, and an area rug by Stark. The coffee tables are from the homeowners’ previous residence.

Potthast Design worked with Jamie Stern on a custom diamond-pattern area rug that provides an elegant platform for the great room’s furnishings. A white Yamaha baby grand piano pops against the green tropical landscape. Sumptuous seating, including a lavish built-in window seat, wraps the space in comfort. Old Biscayne’s two-tiered white cocktail table and a white-topped cane side table from Worlds Away connect visually to the piano’s silhouette.

To achieve the warm, serene feel that was requested by her clients, interior designer Anne Folsom Smith focused on a neutral color scheme of grays, blues, and beiges. The sofa was sourced from Century Furniture and the cocktail table was custom designed by Anne Folsom Smith Interior Design and fabricated by David W. Sutton Woodworking.

With sweeping views of the city skyline and Sarasota Bay, the great room is awash in natural light, which filters in through a cantilevered overhang. The sculptural chandelier over the dining table is reminiscent of birds in mid-flight. A secondary focal point comes from the monolithic, bioethanol fireplace with a television mounted on top.

A Visual Comfort freeform chandelier that would illuminate the entire surface of the island was chosen for the kitchen. “I did not want multiple pendants, and I needed something structured that would provide an ample amount of light since the island is a kitchen workspace,” explains Holiday. All of the shelving and cabinetry is made of rift-cut white oak. Leather counter stools bring warmth to the space.
