In a completely renovated and expanded Fort Lauderdale home, the focal point of the modern living room is a fireplace that combines a linear marble base with an asymmetrical decorative sculpture finished in a leather-like Roman clay by Portola Paint. The rich, yet neutral color palette continues in the furnishings with a custom-designed, curvy bouclé sofa offsetting the more linear RH bench and Maiden Home chairs.

In the great room, a row of sliding glass doors gives way to a veranda with sweeping views of the pool and the beach. At one end, a pair of 8-foot custom bookcases showcases the couple’s prized book collection, while window treatments in green fabric delicately frame the unobstructed views. According to the designers, the focal wall was designed around the tones and scale of the artwork hanging above the fireplace.

“Because it’s such a central part of our living space, I didn’t want the kitchen to feel like a kitchen,” says Diverio, seen here with his wife, Michelle, their son and daughter, and the family dog. “That’s why all the appliances are hidden, and the island was designed to look more like a bar.” The cabinetry by CG Quality Woodworks is finished in a natural rift cut white oak. The Cattelan Italia dining table, one of the first furnishings seen when entering the home, features a solid porcelain top and brushed bronze base.
